The Bed
The bed is the place we spend a quarter to a third of our day {if we're lucky}.
Aside from a great + supportive mattress, your bed should also look beautiful to your eye. Here are some I found on a random visit to only one of the Trade-Only design resources in NYC. Most are customizable in every way, shape + form meaning the fabrics, wood tones, heights, etc. That's the beauty of custom/semi-custom design.
As you scroll through the pictures, also notice the interesting mis-matched selections of night stands, lamps, accessories, benches at the foot of the bed + art found on the showroom selling floors. These are not labored over, photo-shoot ready scenarios, so maybe they look a bit too assorted for your taste? Granted a bedroom should be calm. That means no treadmill or computer desk if at all possible!
Some of my clients don't allow a television in a bedroom ~ to which I professionally have, no comment.
As far as dressings for the bed, I personally am not a fan of lots of fussy pillows which are present in most of the images. But have to say, the mix of materials (sequins, lace, fur + leather) do dress up basic cotton bedding, beautifully. It's like wearing a blazer - which makes everyone look good by adding a formal structure to jeans with a wrinkled tee. On that practical note, pillows do add a nice cover for creased cotton pillow cases. Another lux option many don't even consider, is custom bedding. Out with department store ordinary, in with the refined. Again, duvets, coverlets, monogramed sheets, hotel looks with a twist, patterns, etc. are all to be defined.
If you've never tried it, I reccommend it.
So here is my tour of the week:
Pleasant dreams,
