Meet Mindy

Known from my 5 year gig on Home + Garden Television, HGTV, I live + work in New York City designing beautifully comfortable homes.

Exposed to the high + low as seen through the eyes of my Clients + Vendors, I'm extremely fortunate to be invited into their private spaces. Constantly reminded of how our surroundings are so uniquely personal + affect us so profoundly, fuels the passion for my creativity.  Living with style can be easily attained with the guidance of a trained eye + resourceful approachable Designer.

As a boutique firm, we are available to work with you one-on-one either in person or remotely via the phone/web. I offer many levels of interior design, renovation, project management, purchasing + consultation services.  Please visit my firm's website for a formal introduction.

Here on my Blog, I offer a casual insight into the New York City Interior Design scene.  Parties ~ product launches ~ trade only events ~ charity happenings ~ etc.  You're invited to subscribe to our musings + follow at your choice of design venues listed below.

As always you are invited to call or email me directly with any design questions.

Appreciate you stopping by today ~m

NY DESIGN WEEK: DESIGN-OVER-DOSE

I am wonderfully intoxicated.

It’s been Design-Over-Dose, DOD, this past week.
So much great design condensed into one rainy week.
Good thing my Hunter’s were handy.

Here are some highlights, just so you don’t fall behind in your swooning of beautiful things:

Right on the heels of Brimfield with Robert Allen, was the  Spring Market at the D&D.
From the old to the newest of the new. Reviews are posted, just click on the links.

Next was ICFF: International Contemporary Furniture Fair
I was invited to tweet on behalf of ASID NY Metro.
The event should have been called Brooklyn Design + Others.
Many fine designs in lighting, furniture + wall coverings are produced right here.
Our amazing local community of talented artisans creating with beauty + practicality in mind:
the proper size, scale + the most interesting use of materials for posh interiors both big + small.
The pieces were not odd like I’ve seen at this show in the past, but surprisingly beautiful, luxe+ did I mention, pricey?
I plan on spending more time getting to know these local vendors who are producing world class furnishings, close to home.

Enter Blogfest 2012, the annual design bloggers event sponsored by Kravet.
Known for fabrics + furnishings + the brands Lee Jofa, Brunschwig & Fils, they are the leader in textile collections for recognized names from Ralph Lauren Home to Calvin Klein, just to name a couple.  Kravet is a  Long Island based family owned business, that treated all 150+ international design bloggers with the utmost hospitality, as if we were relatives.  It was a spectacular experience to preview design events, attend private showings, get advice from famed designers, enter contests, raffles, give-aways, tours, presentations, behind-the-scene visits… you name it, we did it. I felt like I was at summer camp.

The link to the itinerary is above + I will post my inspirations as they settle in + become part of my permanent mindset.  One of the sheer joys was spending time with like minded designer bloggers from all over.  We are a creative, hard working, passionate group, eager to please our clients by offering fine design + the ability to create beautiful spaces to live in. I am proud to be a part of this vibrant community.

All these events involved blogging, tweeting + social media.  All done mostly via our phones.
I + my design colleges  have become the new “voice” of trend spotting + educating for our industry.
Interestingly enough, each of our unique voices are a very personal account of what we see, like + recommend.
All of us have different “takes” on the same event ~ which is a good thing.  All the fine companies that invite us + expose us to their products +  the inspiration behind the products,  do so with a generosity in the spirit of education. We are not given direction of what to write or not + nothing gets proof read by our hosts.  As soon as we see something, we tweet it out to the world in our own voices.  If we see an item that hasn’t been officially launched, we are asked not to tweet quite yet – but that’s about it for the monitoring.

As a designer first I had been reluctant to tweet + blog too much.  In this face paced unpredictable world, social media is here to stay.  I invite you to tag along.  Read when you have a moment, comment when you want + become enlightened.
