FITTING IN A SLEEPER / SOFA
Many give up hope of ever fitting a Sleeper Sofa into their spare bedrooms.
If the narrow width of stairs, hallways, door frames or odd angles have not allowed you to use your home as you would like, don't give up hope.
No fear here!
"No" not being an option, this elegant sleek sofa bed was custom ordered in the lux fabrics below, manufactured, shipped to the local warehouse, taken apart by the upholsterer at the warehouse, delivered in pieces and reassembled by the same craftsmen right in the Client's room.
The knock-down, delivery + set-up part was an easy $800, not including the price of the sofa. A small price ticket for a great looking, comfortable TV viewing sofa that doubles as a guest room bed for visiting friends + family.
How much is a hotel room these days?
Actually using a spare bedroom efficiently, is $riceless!
The doorway was surprisingly narrow, even though the access is straight in. We always measure to make sure that big pieces of furniture can fit where intended, before placing the order.
With the new paint color freshly on the walls, new window treatments installed, new carpet laid, new lighting hung, the room awaits the arrival of the main piece.
Movers leave this part, the body of the sofa. Notice the back and bottom are not attached.
Then the wooden frame, in the white foam, gets brought in.
Usually it's the furniture deliverers job to unwrap the pieces before they leave, for Designer inspection. In this case, the guts were so disturbing to see, they left it wrapped up until the upholsterer, Mario, arrived to put it all together and make it pretty.
Yikes!
10 minutes into the re-construction I peaked. Looked like open heart surgery.
(The equipment on the lower right is Mario's air gun, used to staple the fabric back to the frame.)
Seriously, in a matter of minutes, the back is attached and sofa/bed is looking sort of recognizable.
Like magic. All together.
Client was delighted to arrive home from work and have this new addition so gracefully waiting. Super comfortable to sit on + beautiful on the eyes.
Within one week, two separate groups of guests gave their thumbs-up on the comfort of their sleep, which was the ultimate test.
Now on to completing the rest of the room: ottomans, side tables, throw, art, etc.
(We have another knock-down, set-up being delivered in a few weeks. Pre-War with a small elevator. No sweat!)
Excellence is in the details:
These were the fabric choices for the sofa, although it looks more beige in the photo.
Grey main fabric is a heavy duty chenille, 100% polyester, very soft. Welt/Button detail is a silver heavy duty water/stain repellent linen-like material, with a slight sheen. Wood frame is a light grey painted finish.
Yummy.
