Bemelmans Bar The Carlyle Named in honor of Ludwig Bemelmans, who created the famous Madeline books for children. The ceiling is covered  24 karat-gold, which makes  everyone look elegant in its soft romantic reflection.

Blue Bar The Algonquin Hotel Al Hirschfeld  illustrations line the walls of this legendary literary hot spot.

Monkey Bar Hotel Elysee Hip enough to be featured in "Sex in the City", the walls are painted murals crafted in the 50's, by caricaturist Charlie Wala.

Oak Bar The Plaza Some say it isn't what it used to be, but I have memories + it's still top on my list.  Everett Shinn murals, circa 1945, grace the walls of this touristy blast from the past.

Rose Bar Gramercy Park Hotel The ultimate in sophisticated bohemian.  Surrounding yourself with art by Julian Schnabel, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat + Keith Haring feels more like sipping drinks in a living room, than in a public space.
