A Piece of Iconic Hollywood History
Debbie Reynolds is having a tag sale.
Thousands of the most iconic costumes + props Hollywood has ever seen, could be yours. Just image owning Judy Garland's ruby-red slippers from the "Wizard of Oz"? (1939) Oh my.
These shoes were actually only used during the first two weeks of shooting, to be rejected in favor of the rounded-toe version we are so familiar with. The early footage had to be re-shot.
Marilyn Monroe's legendary halter dress from, "The Seven Year Itch" (1955), the most prized item in the collection, estimated to fetch a cool $1-$2 m.
Elizabeth Taylor's headdress from Cecil B. DeMille's, "Cleopatra" (1963).
Richard Burton's armor from, "Cleopatra" (1963).
Another headdress from, "Cleopatra".
Worn by Vivian Leigh in, "Gone with the Wind" (1939).
Designer Irene Sharaff made this gown for Barbara Streisand in, "Hello Dolly!" (1969). Back then it cost more than 100K to construct.
Barbara Streisand's Gown from, "My Fair Lady".
Charlie Chaplin's signature Bowler.
Carrie Fisher, Reynold's daughter says, "Costumes carry the energy of the actors who wore them; they are infused with the power of the stars and stories that inspired and empowered us".
I just think that some of these items would fill those new bookshelves I've been installing all over town, with the most meaningful of worldly possession. Let's shop!
